Last year we added Angleton Junior High to our STEM Academy. Our goal was to improve student’s understanding of career fields and jobs. They have accomplished this by holding career focus lessons through advisory classes and hosting special career days once a semester. Their 8th grade students had a special career day to prepare them for choices in high school. This allowed the 8th graders to see the available CTE options and courses in action, as well as the industry professionals who are the outcome of those pathway choices.
Angleton High School has expanded the learning experiences for health science students by attending field experiences at UTMB Galveston, provided opportunity for the students to become certified EKG technicians upon passing the national exam in February, and by adding a computer science principles course offering to students.
Our district has been involved in the development of a district strategic plan. The STEM Academy Advisory team has been working in sub groups to identify areas of expansion for next year. This is a work in progress which will be reported and discussed at the STEM Advisory meeting with our community members.

They have updated some of the technology in their health sciences program and engineering.
We have not worked closely with the high school counselors but have targeted that area this year.
They meet regularly to continue to do PLC work as a group of teachers working with STEM teachers.
They offer a wide range of AP classes and do a good job with this.
They have a partnership with UTMB and the staff that used to be at the Center. they also send kids to do internships at UTMB facilities in Angleton.
They have dual credit MOU with Brazosport College.
They have now outlined their career pathways through next year which will move students to the last course in their sequence.
They continually look at how they can add and enhance their pathways.
