Describe campus/program, goals, and theory of change

Students work towards their high school diploma along with an Associate's Degree of Liberal Arts. Upon graduation, students will have completed 60+ college hours.

Describe Blueprint Benchmark strengths

Benchmark 2: 

  • Strong relationship with IHE partner, Trinity Valley Community College (TVCC)
  • TVCC waives tuition and fees for dual credit courses
  • TVCC waives BCIS access codes

Benchmark 3:

  • Weekly collaborative meeting with TVCC dual credit coordinator, Vice President of Instruction, and Associate Vice President of Work Force Education

Benchmark 6:

  • Designated ECHS counselor
  • ECHS teachers provided professional development trainings on the Common Instructional Framework and Instructional Rounds
  • ECHS students enrolled in ECHS-only sections for core classes
  • ECHS students are encourage to participate in clubs and organizations at TVCC

Describe certifications
The following certification options are offered by TVCC to the students:

Level 1 Certificates offered include Early Childhood Education Bilingual Mini, Early
Childhood Education Bilingual Para, Criminal Justice Law Enforcement, Junior Accounting,
and Welding.
Level 2 Certificates offered are Mechanical Engineering Technology, Certified Nurse
Assistant, and Pharmacy Technician

Students have the opportunity to earn an Associate of Arts or and Associate of Science.

CIF and Instructional rounds are being reinstated this year at the campus. The district has hired an outside consultant to support the faculty with CIF.

ECHS has designated 3 computer labs and 6 classroom sets of Chromebooks. Computer labs are open daily til 7:00 p.m. and 8:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays. Students enrolled in online dual credit courses have a designated proctor vetted by TVCC to support the students.

ECHS has numerous support systems in place to ensure the students' success:
*Each Friday, students are assigned to a Pinnacle teacher who provides progress monitoring of both high school and college courses
*Mandatory tutoring weekly for any student failing either a college or high school course
*TSI Blitz administered by director for all 10th and 11th grades who have not passed TSI on the last Friday of the month before the TSI administered on the 1st Wednesday of the month

ECHS faculty have autonomy of staff development. Currently, the campus is being training on CIF and Instructional Rounds. Every Monday the staff meets for focused professional development on the instructional rounds process. Instructional rounds includes both a CIF strategy as well as a focused soft skill. Weekly on Wednesdays, the core faculty meet with the comprehensive teams for PLCs.

Success of program is largely due to the active involvement of the IHE partner. AISD provides an ECHS liaison who is housed at the TVCC campus who connects with the instructors on the progress of students in their dual credit courses.

Summer bridge is focused on the expectations and rigor of an ECHS student. Students are required to read a book with required projects for each core class. Incoming 9th graders are tested in May prior to summer bridge. Students then are given two additional opportunities to TSI retest.

Students have the opportunity to be a part of any of the high school or college clubs and extra-curricular activities. Currently, ECHS students are members of the TVCC band, Phi Theta Kappa, and other clubs.
