Describe campus/program, goals, and theory of change

SPC ECHS will be graduating their first cohort of students (projecting 56 of 58 to obtain an Associate Degree)and hoping for at least one national merit scholar. Their goals are to Meet Standard and earn multiple academic distinctions in State Accountability System. Their first cohort of 2015 came in more focused with lower skill sets and subsequent cohorts are coming in with stronger skill sets and more motivated.

AAS:
What areas of interest do you have for Technical Assistance (up to 3 areas, rank in order of importance)?

BM 4: We would like assistance in crosswalk support and samples of AAS crosswalks.

BM 5: We would like assistance in effective strategies for preparing our student for the TSIA.

What tools or resources would be valuable to your campus to support your implementation of the blueprint?

We would like some samples and resources for four-year pathways and resources and tools for getting our students college eligible sooner rather than later when achieving an Associate Degree becomes problematic.

What have been your challenges and how have you addressed them?

Our students have been starting with an AAS four-year plan and then wish to obtain a regular Associate Degree of Arts or Science in order to graduate with a distinguished high school diploma. We have students who want to obtain their AAS and certification and want to also be distinguished high school diploma gradate so we have conflicting high school and college degree plans with certification type programs. We are having to use Fridays to offer the classes that meet the students’ needs at the high school level as no college classes on Friday.

President Loston is a big support and separates the data for the ECHS to show how the school is adding value to the college.  She presents this to her own President’s Cabinet and carries that message to ACCD Board as well.
